Camping Trips

I’ve seen several posts floating around in which people tell their friends that if they want to go on a “camping trip” to another state, they would be glad to drive them to the “camping trip.”

Friends, I will not provide “camping trip” transportation services. But behind these profile pictures I see, there are human souls, so here is a sampling of what I am willing to do.

If you are pregnant:

I will sit with you, listen, and be a shoulder to cry on. I will be a friend.

I will drive you to your prenatal appointments.

I will tell you that you don’t have to choose between your child and your hopes for your future.

I will connect you with an adoption agency so your baby can be adopted by one of the 2 million couples currently waiting to adopt in the United States.

I will go with you to one of the over 2,000 pregnancy resource centers in our country, where you can get ultrasounds, maternity clothes, diapers, and more — for free.

I will connect you with your local Embrace Grace group so you can have the support of other moms with unplanned pregnancies.

I will drive you to the store where we can pick out baby clothes and supplies together.

I will throw you a baby shower.

I will be with you during labor if you need support.

I will deliver meals to your home and hold your baby so you can nap.

I will be in it for the long haul. Because you are precious to me.

If you have had an abortion:

I will sit with you, listen, and be a shoulder to cry on if you need one. I will be a friend.

I will connect you with a post-abortion support group or counselor, if you so desire.

I will talk to you about where you can find forgiveness and hope.

Hey, if you want, I’ll join you on an actual camping trip. We can lay under the stars and eat s’mores and talk about the things that matter most.

I will be in it for the long haul. Because you are precious to me.

Thank you to my dear friend Darcy who inspired the idea for this post.

Please refrain from rude or hateful comments. I have not spoken unkindly. I ask for the same courtesy.
